Everything is ready for the opening scheduled for tomorrow with Tarvisio – Monfalcone stage: 114 athletes who will line up at the starting line
114 athletes will be protagonists of the Adriatica Ionica Race 2022 which will start tomorrow from Tarvisio (Ud). The stage race, conceived and promoted by the World Champion Moreno Argentin, crossing four Regions in the next 5 days of competition, promises to be unpredictable and spectacular from the first to the last pedal crunch that will lead to the final finish line in Ascoli Piceno.
The headquarters set today in Tarvisio allowed the AIR 2022 organizational staff to proceed with all the preliminary operations and technical meetings required by international regulations.
THE MOST AWAITED AT THE START – The number one race bib will be on the shoulders of Lorenzo Fortunato (Eolo Kometa), winner of the 2021 edition of the Adriatica Ionica Race. Among those aiming for the final success are worth mentioning the Colombians Sebastian Henao Gomez (Astana) and Santiago Umba (Drone Hopper), Christian Scaroni (Italian National Team), the South African Nicholas Dlamini (Team Qhubeka) the expert Davide Rebellin (Work Service Vitalcare Videa) and the couple from Bardiani CSF Faizanè composed of Eritrean Henok Mulueberhan and Filippo Zana from Vicenza.
Among those who will aim for the success of the stage, there will be many sprinters and many punchers such as Matteo Malucelli (Italian National Team) Giovanni Lonardi (Eolo Kometa), Filippo Fiorelli and Sacha Modolo (Bardiani CSF), Andrea Peron (Novo Nordisk), Giulio Masotto (Corratec), Davide Persico (Colpack Ballan), Matteo Donegà and Edoardo Sandri (Cycling Team Friuli), Samuele Carpene and Vojislav Peric (General Store), Nicolas Dalla Valle (Giotti Victoria), Samuele Zambelli and Riccardo Lucca (Work Service Vitalcare Videa), Luca Coati (Team Qhubeka), Paul Double (Mg K Vis) and Manlio Moro (Zalf).

TOMORROW’S STAGE
The first stage of the Adriatica Ionica Race will start at 11.00 from Via Roma in Tarvisio and, after a short transfer, will descend quickly towards Artegna and Capriva del Friuli where the Flying Finish Line will be placed. Immediately after, the first real climbs of the 2022 edition will be tackled, at kilometer 127 it will cross the hill in San Floriano del Collio while the only KOM of the day will be located at kilometer 150 in San Michele del Carso. Three kilometers up with a maximum gradient of 10.4% and an average gradient of 6%. From here, a fast descending slight slope will lead to Monfalcone where the finish line is set. Due to a change in the route, the initially planned final circuit of Monfalcone will not be carried out and the route will consequently be reduced from 189.4 km to 169.2 km.
The last kilometers
The finish of the race along the streets of Monfalcone will be completely flat, leading to the arrival set in Via E. Valentinis where the finish is scheduled for about 3.15 pm.
