Adriatica Ionica Race moves dates to 15-17 June

The third edition of the cycling event shaped by former World Champion Moreno Argentin will be scheduled in three stages crossing three regions: Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto region and Emilia-Romagna, for the grand finale

Adriatica Ionica Race, the stage race shaped by former World Champion Moreno Argentin, announced the new dates of the third edition to be held on June 15, 16 and 17, 2021.

After the year off due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the ASD Sportunion organizers are back with a three-day format race, scheduled right before the Road Italian Championships in Imola and ten days ahead of the Tour de France.

The 2021 AIRace breaking novelty is a new prestigious territorial partner, as the cycling event will be supported by Emilia-Romagna Region, which will join in this alliance the Veneto and the Friuli Venezia Giulia regions.

Friuli Venezia Giulia will host the opening stage of the event on Tuesday, June 15th, while on Wednesday, June 16th the race will go through Veneto landscapes until the closing stage on Thusday, June 17th in Emilia-Romagna, where the Road National Championships will be held from June 18th to 20th. “Despite current difficulties, we are working on a new edition of AIRace – said Moreno Argentin. – The partnership with Emilia-Romagna is very valuable to us, considering their huge commitment to promoting the territory through cycling, and we are definitely pleased to establish this new cooperation”.

In its first two editions, the Adriatica Ionica Race showcased many young athletes with a bright future, proposing spectacular routes able to enhance this new generation of riders: the Belgian star Remco Evenepoel, Colombia’s Alvaro Hodeg and Ivan Ramiro Sosa and the latest overall winner, Ukrainian Mark Padun.

In the upcoming weeks we will unveil the courses – added Argentin – but I can already announce some gravel sections in the last stage, after the great show we enjoyed in 2019 exalting champions such as Philippe Gilbert and Sep Vanmarcke“.
