Castelraimondo (Mc) is a small as well as charming town in the Marche region that will host the start of the fifth and last stage of AIR 2022. Corpus Domini is celebrated in the village every year with a traditional ‘infiorata’ that takes place on the night between Saturday and Sunday: the local associations compose flowery carpets representing Christian scenes or messages along the city roads; they are undone in the early morning of the following Monday. Castelraimondo is dominated by an imposing keep, a defensive structure that is what remains of the military fortress built in the fourteenth century by the Da Varano on a previous thirteenth-century castle, with the approval of the rector of the Marca Raimondo d’Ottone, who therefore linked its name to the locality.

The Adriatica Ionica Race 2022 will set the finish line in Ascoli Piceno, confirming a route crossing some of the most beautiful places in Italy, where the city of the Marche region is for sure its worthy final approach. A journey through history, naturalistic attractions, tradition and culture, linked thanks to the common theme of the great international cycling.

Ascoli Piceno will therefore follow Trieste (2018 and 2019) and Comacchio (2021) which in the past have crowned the talent of Ivan Ramiro Sosa, Mark Padun and Lorenzo Fortunato.

The historic center, built almost entirely in travertine and enriched by Piazza del Popolo, is one of the most impressive of Italy.

Ascoli Piceno is known as the ‘City of a hundred towers’: in medieval times there were about 200. Famous for the Ascoli olive, a delicacy appreciated beyond the national borders, it is considered one of the most beautiful small towns of Italy. There is plenty of places to visit and discover, in a charming atmosphere and high visual impact. In addition to the attractions represented by the religious buildings, the archaeological remains, the cloisters and the towers, there are several museums offering opportunities for in-depth study on different topics. A city of a thousand wonders, in short, where the winner of the Adriatica Ionica Race 2022 will be proclaimed.
